Swedish-American author Siv Cedering Fox (1939-2007) was born in Overkalix, Sweden (near the Arctic Circle). A poet, novelist, artist and children's book author, she moved, with her family, to San Francisco, at age 14. Her 1981 novel *Oxen* was made into a film in directed by Sven Nykvist and starring Stellan Skarsgård, which won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Film.
