Good+ A sumptuously bound set of the works of Sir John Suckling from the library of Egerton Castle, the Victorian author, antiquarian and swordsman, featuring his striking Egyptian-flavoured bookplate. The grandson and namesake of the publishing magnate and philanthropist Egerton Smith, Egerton Smith Castle M. A. F.S.A. (18581920) was, aptly, an expert on bookplates and a keen collector. A practitioner of historical fencing, often performing with Captain Alfred Hutton, he also captained the British épée and sabre teams at the 1908 Summer Olympics. Half leather, marbled paper boards.
