Paperback. Zustand: As New. Rhino Records, 1990. LIKE NEW, 31 page booklet containing program notes, commentary, and bibliography and 3 CDs in immaculate condition. All contained in box (32 x 32 x 3 cm.). . . . . . . This box set presents the complete recorded spoken-word works of iconic Beat Generation writer and poet Jack Kerouac (1922 - 1969), compiling his three original albums (originally released 1959 - 1960) with some previously unreleased or rare material. It captures Kerouacs rhythmic, jazz-infused reading style that defined the Beat movements sound. . . . . CDs Included: 1.) Jack Kerouac / Steve Allen: Poetry for the Beat Generation (1959) Kerouac reads his poetry accompanied by Steve Allens improvisational piano. Standout tracks include October in the Railroad Earth, Bowery Blues, and McDougal Street Blues. This album was famously rejected by Dot Records before being released on the independent Hanover label ----- 2.) Jack Kerouac Blues and Haikus (1959) Featuring jazz saxophonists Al Cohn and Zoot Sims. Kerouac performs his spontaneous blues and haiku-inspired pieces with cool jazz backing, highlighting his deep connection to bebop and improvisation ----- 3.) Readings by Jack Kerouac on the Beat Generation (1960) Kerouacs final spoken-word album, mostly unaccompanied or minimally backed. It includes evocative pieces like San Francisco Scene (The Beat Generation), San Francisco Blues (Fragments), Lucien Midnight, and History of Bop. . . . . Additional Context: This is a highly regarded collectors item for fans of Beat literature, jazz poetry, and mid-20th-century American counterculture. The set is praised for its remastering and packaging that reproduces elements of the original LP artwork.

Original pressing. HM-5006. Promotional copy. Very LP with some wear and light scratching, side 1 has long but very light scuff, in a Very Good+ sleeve with a little wear to bottom hinge, bump to bottom corner with a little loss, faint dampstain to rear cover along bottom edge. Nice shape overall.Kerouac's uncommon second album and his first as the sole poet, flanked by saxophonists Al Cohn and Zoot Sims. A real high point of Beat poetry in its own way, combining jazz and occasionally brilliant short-attention-span zen poems; a format often parodied but seldom heard in its original incarnation.
