Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Bela Lugosi's Dead-The Immortal Anthem of Bauhaus>In August 1979, Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, and brothers David J and Kevin Haskins-collectively known as Bauhaus-released their debut single, 'Bela Lugosi's Dead'. It was a sprawling, sepulchral 'Gothic waltz' that would launch a career defined by profoundly complex albums and sublime live performances. By directly invoking the lead actor of the 1931 film Dracula, 'Bela' was instrumental in the rise of a quintessential 'dark' sound culture. Its influence eventually permeated the world of celluloid, securing Bauhaus a historic appearance in the 1983 feature film The Hunger, directed by Tony Scott (brother of the renowned Ridley Scott). Reconstructing the period that led to the band's formation, this book evokes the birth of 'Bela Lugosi's Dead'-the 'immortal anthem of Bauhaus'-bringing to light its historical significance and its most essential elements.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Following the success of I Robot, in 1978 The Alan Parsons Project reached a new artistic peak with Pyramid-an album that further solidified the symbiotic fusion between Alan Parsons' musical and engineering genius and Eric Woolfson's conceptual and creative vision. A masterful and sophisticated work, bolstered by impeccable studio production, Pyramid seamlessly blended orchestral grandeur, refined progressive sensibilities, and the distinctive soft-rock eclecticism that would become the Project's hallmark sound. The album was also a triumph for its unique visual concept and cover design (crafted by the renowned London studio Hipgnosis). Two elements that, in the case of Pyramid, would emerge as true narrative assets in their own right.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Destructive Instincts - Guns N' Roses Live at The Ritz '88Chronicle of a Landmark EventOn February 2, 1988, Guns N' Roses set the stage of New York's Ritz ablaze for a legendary show captured by MTV. At the time, Appetite For Destruction, their explosive debut, had yet to achieve the global juggernaut status it would later command. The Ritz appearance, however, officially certified the sheer power of the Guns' classic lineup, before internal friction would eventually shatter the spell. The backdrop of The Ritz and the New York ferment amplified the group's aesthetic as well as the profiles of Axl, Slash, Duff, Izzy, and Steven, revealing their sensitivity, bravado, and charisma-defining traits that would soon transform a group of outsiders from the streets of Los Angeles into absolute icons of global music.Following the upward trajectory of Appetite on the charts, Destructive Instincts-penned by the author of Victory or Death: Guns N' Roses and the Sound of 'Appetite For Destruction'-reconstructs that historic night and the band's first forays into the Big Apple, framing the exact moment when Guns N' Roses embodied the purest essence of rock & roll. …

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Gracious Melodies: Scott Weiland and Stone Temple PilotsFrom the moment they arrived in September 1992 with their cerebral debut album Core, Stone Temple Pilots rightfully earned a prominent place on the international rock stage. The American lineup-fronted by the versatile and charismatic Scott Weiland, and completed by brothers Robert and Dean DeLeo (on bass and guitar, respectively) and Eric Kretz (on drums)-continued to evolve and refine their sound through a series of high-quality records: Purple, Tiny Music. Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop, as well as the lesser-known-but no less intriguing-No. 4 and Shangri-La Dee Da.The history of Stone Temple Pilots, though marked by great achievements and massive success, was ultimately compromised by Weiland's personal struggles, which led to his passing from an accidental overdose in December 2015.A troubled yet truly talented artist-also famous as the frontman of the supergroup Velvet Revolver-Weiland was the last great rock star in the most traditional sense of the term, capable of embodying the very essence of performance in a way that only the likes of Jim Morrison or David Bowie had been able to do before him.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. [.]
