The disguised body is omnipresent. Masks hide and reveal a fascination with roleplay. In Silverthorne's work, as with all meaningful social fringe, the transsexual becomes the ultimate symbol of blurred boundaries. Yet this body, open to all pleasures, is also marked by wounds and scars. Jeffrey Silverthorne's work is a contemporary answer to the age-old desires of vanity.
