Softcover. Zustand: Sehr gut. Gebraucht - Sehr gut Zustand: Sehr gut, XII, 345 p. About this book The C.I.M.E. session on Dynamical Systems, held in Cetraro (Italy) June 19-26, 2000 focused on the latest developments in several important areas in dynamical systems, with full development and historical context. The lectures of Chow and Mallet-Paret focus on the area of lattice differential systems, the lectures of Conto and Galleotti treat the classical problem of classification of orbits for two-dimensional autonomous systems with polynomial right sides, the lectures of Nussbaum focus on applications of fixed point theorems to the problem of limiting profiles for the solutions of singular perturbations of delay differential equations, and the lectures of Johnson and Mantellini deal with the existence of periodic and quasi-periodic orbits to non-autonomous systems. The volume will be of interest to researchers and graduate students working in these areas. Written for researchers and advanced students.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - The 1986 NATO Advanced Study Insti tute on Dynamics of Infini te Dimensional Systems was held at the Instituto Superior Tecnico. Lisbon. Portugal. In recent years. there have been several research workers who have been considering partial differential equations and functional differential equations as dynamical systems on function spaces. Such approaches have led to the formulation of more theoretical problems that need to be investigated. In the applications. the theoretical ideas have contributed significantly to a better understanding of phenomena that have been experimentally and computationally observed. The investigators of this development come wi th several different backgrounds - some from classical partial differential equations. some from classical ordinary differential equations and some interested in specific applications. Each group has special ideas and often these ideas have not been transmitted from one group to another. The purpose of this NATO Workshop was to bring together research workers from these various areas. It provided asoundboard for the impact of the ideas of each respective discipline. We believe that goal was accomplished. but time will be a better judge. We have included the list of participants at the workshop. with most of these giving a presentation. Although the proceedings do not include all of the presentations. it is a good representative sampie. We wish to express our gratitude to NATO. and.to Dr. M. di Lullo of NATO. who unfortunately did not live to see the completion of this project.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book is concerned with the bifurcation theory, the study of the changes in the structures of the solution of ordinary differential equations as parameters of the model vary. The theory has developed rapidly over the past two decades. Chapters 1 and 2 of the book introduce two systematic methods of simplifying equations: centre manifold theory and normal form theory, by which the dimension of equations may be reduced and the forms changed so that they are as simple as possible. Chapters 3-5 of the book study in considerable detail the bifurcation of those one- or two-dimensional equations with one, two or several parameters. This book is aimed at mathematicians and graduate students interested in dynamical systems, ordinary differential equations and/or bifurcation theory. The basic knowledge required by this book is advanced calculus, functional analysis and qualitative theory of ordinary differential equations.
