Original green grained cloth, top edge gilt, some light wear to the extremities but a good firm copy, internally very clean. It is generally recorded that only 300 copie…s were printed. Mullens and Swann describe the work as "a county avifauna of considerable extent and completeness", however it was somewhat overshadowed by Ticehurst's major work "A History of the Birds of Kent" published in 1909. It remains one of the most attractive county avifaunas with lovely coloured plates by Smit. Joseph Smit (illustrator).
