Hardcover. Zustand: New. 1st Edition. The book entitled "Documentary of Agaricomycetous Mushrooms of India" provides updated compilation of basic data and information on 1920 mushroom taxa belonging to 207 genera spread over 35 families and 3 orders of fleshy fungi published till date from India. The broad classification adopted for compilation of this treatise is largely based on the latest version of the Dictionary of Fungi authored by Kirk et al. (2008). In this documentary the Orders, Families, Genera and Species are arranged in alphabetic order under respective taxonomic category. For a particular taxon, the name of the class, order, family, respective authority and citation has been given as per authentic information available in the MycoBank and Index Fungorum. For every species and variety listed under respective genus, the exact information about the state of its occurrence and the documenting author has been provided. At the end of the documentary the references, which appeared in the main body of the manuscript are listed in an alphabetical order. This data base is likely to set the tone for more explorative work and will provide a significant base line. The gilled and poroid mushrooms embrace diverse and fascinating arrays of fleshy fungi. They are of great interest because of their relevance in nutritional and neutraceutical aspects, mycorrhizal association with plants, and as saprophytes and parasites. This book will be of interest to diverse group of users and we understand clearly that there may have been some inadvertent omissions in our compilation.

Figures and Plates. xii Literature Cited. xii Subject Index . About the Book: This volume Myxomycetes of North East India and the Royal Kingdom of Bhutan provides a deep scientific insight of the myxomycetes of North East India and the Royal Kingdom of Bhutan. The myxomycetes are curious organisms which were well explored in the past at national and international levels. In India, myxomycetes of North India and South West India received more attention than those of North East India and were therefore monographed earlier (Thind. 1977; Lakhanpal&Mukerji , 1981; Ranade and Ranadive, 2016) This complication is the first ever recognition to myxomycetes of North East India and the Royal Kingdom of Bhutan. The treatise is based on original data generated over several years in these regions which had poor communication facilities and insurgency was also raising its head. When these exploration were undertaken. The Monograph gives an illustrated account of 189 taxa. In 35 genera ,spread over six orders and three subclasses. All the taxa have been systematically and technically described and provided with indented keys. A good number of species has been recorded for the first time from India and several are new to science. As many as 82 taxa are being described and illustrated for the first time from Bhutan. The region is a gold mine for fungi because of the favorable climatic conditions. The richness of fungi can be judged from the number of collections housed in the Herbarium of the Department of Botany, Panjab University, Chandigarh on almost all groups of higher fungi and the myxomycetes as well. The credit for this national asset is due to Rev. Prof. K.S. Thind and his worthy students. The text is covered in different chapters and each chapter is devoted to specific aspect of myxomycetes. There is also given an index to Myxomycetes of India and the Royal Kingdom of Bhutan, which lists all the taxa known till date. The entire information synthesized thus will be very useful for researchers and students alike.
