The cover has blue cloth with goldtone letters and a navy blue illustration. 144 pages; 16 tipped-in, color illustrations. The spine strip has light soiling, has a vertical bend line, and the top and bottom edges are faded from shelf wear. The right side of the front board has several, whitish lines, up to 7/8 in. The front FEP is missing. The text block ends have darkened. About an eighth of the pages' margins have stains, from pinpoint size to 1 3/4 in. The sky area of one illustration has two pinpoint size and one linear 1/4 in. stain. Three frontal pages have foxing. Scans e-mailed upon request.

They have a clear plastic protective cover. Gilt titling and decoration (fresh and agleam). The boards are serene, elegant with some light scuffing and shelving wear. They are steady and sound. The paper trims have foxing. The contents have spots and blotches of foxing here and there. The Dulac plates are most pleasingly fresh-faced and evocative. They are tidy and trim, joyful and aware. Unfortunately the spine, rear cover and lower spine corner of front cover have been 'touched up' with some kind of blue ink (no idea why - sorry). There is a light damp stain to the edge of the front cover. One plate has a couple of tiny edge chips and another has a tiny piece of surface paper rubbing. There is some foxing to the contents. If it wasn't for the 'touching up' of the covers this would be a very good copy. Packaged with care and promptly dispatched!

The first edition of this work to feature the illustrations of Dulac. The first trade edition.Illustrated with a frontispiece and a further thirty-nine tipped in colour plates - with tissue guard - from celebrated illustrator Edmund Dulac. Collated, complete.Probably written between 1610 and 1611, and one of Shakespeare's final plays, this tale is set on a remote island where a magician named Prospero lives with his daughter, Miranda, and two servants: Caliban, a savage monster, and Ariel, an airy spirit. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with gilt detailing. Externally, vibrant. Light shelf wear to back strip tail, with centre of front joint starting, and with light fraying in this location. Board firmly held. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages clean and bright, with the odd spot. Very Good. book.
