Com efeito, existe hoje acalorada discussão em torno da ideia de cidadania. Problematizar essa questão significa perguntar sobre o modelo de sociedade e comunidade política que se quer construir. Tornato in Brasile nel 1950, contribuì al movimento costruttivista. Tra il 1961 e il 1974 si stabilisce di nuovo a Parigi, dove nel 1963 diventa membro del Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visuel.La sua prima mostra personale ha avuto luogo alla Galerie Gea nel 1958, in seguito ha esposto alla Galeria de Arte da Folhas di Sao Paulo, al Signals di Londra, al Museo de Arte Moderna di Rio de Janeiro, alla Galerie Denise Reiné di Parigi, alla Biennale di Parigi, dove riceve anche il Premio Internazionale della Scultura, alla Biennale di Venezia nel 1966 ed in molte altre manifestazioni artistiche in America ed Europa.
