It is the first of his three Dickson McCunn books. The action takes place in Scotland, in the district of Carrick in Galloway. Margaret Pedler (died 28 December 1948) was a British novelist, who wrote popular works of romantic fiction. Delano Ames (1906-1987) was an American writer of detective stories.
