Internally, half title with signed limitation to verso, attractive tipped in coloured frontispiece surrounded by coloured illustration within a red ruled box, with tissue guard, title within red ruled box with illustrations, [9], 10-110 pp, [1], 1 coloured plate with guard, 8 coloured full page illustrations, 12 full page B&W illustrations & 41 B&W illustrations within text, green & white pictorial endpapers, ink ownership signature to fep, t.e.g., others uncut, 2 small paper tears to lower board. Publisher's illustrated paper-covered boards with cloth spine; titles and decoration in black and pink, illustrated green endpapers, pictorial dust-jacket priced 7/6. Contents are fine, colour plate not creased, ink ownership to prelim, jacket with sizeable chips to spine ends and a lengthy tear to the rear joint. Remains presentable. A very good copy.

First Edition. [Children's] FIRST EDITIONS THUS. 2 volumes, large octavos (26 x 20cm). Tipped-in colour frontispiece to each volume and numerous black and white silhouettes and three-tone illustrations. Publisher's red and yellow pictorial covers, cloth spines lettered in black, illustrated green endpapers to first volume, pictorial dust-wrappers. A well-read duo with some occasional marks and thumbing within, owners inscription to each, covers moderately handled, fragile jackets with some chips and tears. Remains presentable. A uniform pair of Rackham's only 'silhouette' titles.
