Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. 1st Edition. Hook, Line and Sinker • Author: Ralph Seaman • Publisher: The Stackpole Company, Harrisburg, PA • Year: 1956 (Stated First Edition) • Format: Hardcover with original Dust Jacket (included) • Binding: Light green textured cloth with blue stamped illustration Overview A quintessential mid-century fishing memoir. Ralph Seaman, a traveler and lecturer for the Carling Conservation Club, recounts a lifetime of angling from his childhood in Ohio to pursuing the great game fish of North America. This 1956 first edition is prized for its technical insights into early fly and spinning tackle, as well as its distinctive jacket art by the legendary Ned Smith. Detailed Item Condition • Cloth Boards (Front): The light green textured cloth is in excellent condition. It remains clean and vibrant with no significant staining or fading. The blue-stamped leaping fish illustration in the upper left is crisp and completely intact. • Corners/Edges: The corners appear sharp and the edges show virtually no shelf wear, indicating the book has been well-protected by its jacket for decades. • Dust Jacket: Present and unclipped ($4.85). As noted, the jacket shows vintage wear (chipping, some tears) but includes the rare original bookmark still attached to the rear flap. • Internal: Features a vintage 1956 Christmas inscription and a custom duck-themed bookplate. Pages are clean with very light age-toning.
