[v], 71pp. a colour frontispiece and colour illustration onlaid on the front board, and black and white illustrations within the text. This is a scarce collection of seven classic fairy tales, retold by Franci K. Scrymgeour. The book is illustrated by A.L. Bowley, a book decorator and illustrator who also contributed to 'Cassell's Illustrated Readings'. The book is bound in the original purple paper covered boards with a colour illustration on the front board. The book has been well read and has several faults, and should only be regarded as being a reading copy. The boards have shelf wear and soiling with damage and some loss to the paper covering the edges of the boards. The corners are bumped with some damage and loss. The spine is missing and the boards are now held in place by the mull binding the book. The contents are secure although the front free endpaper is missing. The pages have staining and soiling from finger smudges, etc., and some of the illustrations have been coloured in by a child. There is also some coloured scribbling within the book.
