II chipped at head of spine with slight loss and split along joints. Provenance: with the ownership inscriptions of Julia Warde-Aldam, of Hooton Pagnell Hall, 1913. An association copy of the official narrative of Scott's 1910 -13 expedition during which he, Edward Wilson and three companions died on their return from the South Pole. The books were once the property of Julia Warde-Aldam, of Hooton Pagnell Hall, Yorkshire, and she and her family developed a friendship with Edward Wilson through Wilson's brother Bernard (estate manager of the hall). Letters between the Wilsons and the Warde-Aldams were sold at auction.
