Hardcover. Zustand: Like New. First Edition. A firm and square hardback with strong joints, just showing a few very minor cosmetic rubs. Hence a non-text page has a small 'damaged' stamp. Despite such this book is actually in nearly new condition and appears unread. Thus the contents are crisp, fresh and tight; no pen-marks. Now offered for sale at a very sensible price. …

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Symmetry is an intriguing phenomenon manifesting itself in art, nature, and the mind. This Special Issue book features 19 articles about discrete geometric and combinatorial polyhedral structures, with symmetry as the unifying theme. These articles present an attractive mix of topics and have appeared in two related Special Issues of Symmetry, on 'Polyhedra' in 2012/2013 and on 'Polyhedral Structures' in 2016/2017. Specific topic areas covered include polyhedra, tilings, and crystallography; abstract polyhedra, maps on surfaces, and graphs; and polyhedral structures, arts, and architectural design.…

Soft cover. Zustand: New. 8vo (25 cm), 272 pp. Laminated wrappers. "The papers showcase the breadth of discrete geometry through many new methods and results in a variety of topics. Also included are survey articles on some important areas of active research. This volume is aimed at researchers in discrete and convex geometry and researchers who work with abstract polytopes or string C-groups. It is also aimed at early career mathematicians, including graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, to give them a glimpse of the variety and beauty of these research areas. Topics covered in this volume include: the combinatorics, geometry, and symmetries of convex polytopes; tilings; discrete point sets; the combinatorics of Eulerian posets and interval posets; symmetries of surfaces and maps on surfaces; self-dual polytopes; string C-groups; hypertopes; and graph coloring." Buch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Abstract regular polytopes stand at the end of more than two millennia of geometrical research, which began with regular polygons and polyhedra. They are highly symmetric combinatorial structures with distinctive geometric, algebraic or topological properties; in many ways more fascinating than traditional regular polytopes and tessellations. The rapid development of the subject in the past 20 years has resulted in a rich new theory, featuring an attractive interplay of mathematical areas, including geometry, combinatorics, group theory and topology. Abstract regular polytopes and their groups provide an appealing new approach to understanding geometric and combinatorial symmetry. This is the first comprehensive up-to-date account of the subject and its ramifications, and meets a critical need for such a text, because no book has been published in this area of classical and modern discrete geometry since Coxeter's Regular Polytopes (1948) and Regular Complex Polytopes (1974). The book should be of interest to researchers and graduate students in discrete geometry, combinatorics and group theory. …
