The contributions to this volume explore, in equal measure, the impacts of western science and biomedicine on Tibetan grounds - i.e., among Tibetans across China, the Himalaya and exile communities as well as in relation to globalized Tibetan medicine - and the ways that local practices change how such "science" gets done, and how this continually hybridized medical knowledge is transmitted and put into practice. Diese seltene, wissenschaftlich fundierte Monographie dokumentiert detailliert den traditionellen tibetischen Cham-Tanz anhand eines konkreten Fallbeispiels aus einem Exilkloster in Südindien. Die Arbeit entstand in enger Kooperation mit dem Abt des Klosters, Gonsar Tulku (damals auch Oberhaupt des Schweizer Zentrums Rabten Choeling), sowie einem der Tänzer, was eine präzise Aufzeichnung der Bewegungsabläufe und Hintergründe ermöglichte. Ursprünglich als unveröffentlichte Magisterarbeit verfasst, wurde das Werk 1992 vom Asiatica Bücherdienst (Michael Henss) in einer Kleinstauflage vervielfältigt und vertrieben. Dem damaligen Herstellungsverfahren entsprechend ist die Abbildungsqualität nicht ganz so gut, wie man es sich wünschen würde. Sehr selten, das lediglich in den UB Berlin und Zürich vorhanden ist.
