Bereits 1963 initiierte er den für die Objektivierung wirtschaftspolitischer Diskussion und Entscheidungen auf nationaler Ebene sich höchst bedeutsam erweisenden Beirat für Wirtschafts- und Sozialfragen, dessen erster Vorsitzender er wurde.
