A very good copy. "A monumental work containing a collection of essays on discoveries by Scheele, which had been published in Swedish in the Stockholm Academy transactions." (Neville II.429). The translation is due to F. X. Schwediauer and improved by Thomas Beddoes who also added notes. "Some of Scheele's most important memoirs are included: e.g., his discovery of hydrofluoric nitrosulphonic, molybdic, tungstic, arsenious and arsenic acids among inorganic compounds; and benzoic, citric, gallic, lactic, malic, oxalic, uric and other organic acids. Scheele also independently discovered or prepared chlorine baryta, oxygen, hydrogen sulphide, glycerol, lactose, and other compounds." (Neville). Other discoveries and methods are also included.
