The head and tail of each chapter has a small, b/w illustration. The frontispiece and title page have browntone illustrations, and each one has foxing.The top and bottom edges of the spine strip are frayed. Three board corners are threadbare. Publishers' chestnut brown cloth with titles to black panels to spine and upper board, with printed end-papers; in unclipped pictorial dust-jacket designed by Stephen Haffner. Clean, bright and crisp with no annotation or inscriptions. Dust-jacket very lightly creased at spine tips. A fine book in a near fine dust-jacket. First volume in the series collecting all of Brown's mystery fiction, with each volume featuring the illustrations from their first magazine appearance. The stories were originally published in pulp magazines including 10-Story Detective, Detective Fiction Weekly and Exciting Detective. Heavyweight so a contribution towards increased postage costs will be requested for overseas delivery.

Pages are clean and unmarked, slightly toned, slight foxing throughout mostly contained to margins. Binding is tight. Hinges are perfect. Frontipiece is present, tissue is removed. Very nice copy.
