Der europäische Gesetzgeber harmonisiert mit dem Verbraucherkauf einen Schlüsselbereich der europäischen Schuldrechtsordnungen. Diese Arbeit untersucht, wie zwei große EU-Staaten, Spanien und Deutschland, die Richtlinienvorgaben in ihr nationales Zivilrecht einfügen. Deutschland hat die Richtlinie zum Anlaß genommen das gesamte Schuldrecht zum 1.1.2002 umfassend zu modernisieren. In Spanien liegt ein Jahr nach Ende der Umsetzungsfrist ein Regierungsentwurf für ein Spezialgesetz zum Verbrauchsgüterkauf vor.
