Fields contains a frontispiece and numerous in-text woodcuts by Agnes Parker. London contains a frontispiece by Briscoe, and nine other lovingly illustrated plates of London landmarks including St. Paul's and The British Museum. Collated complete.Growing up on a small Wiltshire farm, Richard Jeffries always had a deep appreciation of nature, and these two works encapsulate this love brilliantly, as we are taken through both the countryside surrounding Brighton and the Sussex Downs (Fields) and leafy London (London). Jeffries can be seen to inspire many nature writers to this day. In the publisher's original cloth, with Fields in the original clipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart, with minimal marks to boards. Slight knocks to the head and tails of the spines, and to the extremities.
