Ab etwa 1660 in Leipzig und Umgebung tätig. Später in Dresden hauptsächlich als Porträtmaler tätig. 1673 Italienreise mit Heinrich Christoph Fehling, u.a. nach Venedig und Rom. Danach Hinwendung zur Deckenmalerei. 1677 Ernennung zum Oberhofmaler. 1693 erscheint sein Radier-Werk Opera varia historica, poetica et iconologica bei Johann Christoph Weigel in Augsburg.
