Heute findet man so selten Menschen, die noch wissen, was ein Vers bedeutet. Zu medias res: Ich bin 31 Jahre alt, seit 6 Jahren verheiratet, habe Familie [folgen weitere biographische Angaben]. Im Alter von 10 Jahren machte ich mein erstes Gedicht []. Literarischen Kreisen und Zirkelbildungen stand ich von jeher fern. Ich liebe Hölderlin, Rilke, Baudelaire, Goethe. Im Gedicht schwingt mein Leben []. Da ich kein Vermögen habe und auch keinen sogenannten Brotberuf schaffe ich unter starkem äusserem Druck. Ich habe mich in etwa 13 verschiedenartigen Berufen, Stellungen, Tätigkeiten versucht []. Bis vor einigen Monaten wohnte ich mit Frau und Kind in einer Zelle einer ehemaligen Irrenanstalt []" (aus dem handschriftl. Brief vom 27. I. 1927). - Nach dem Abitur lebte der Pfarrerssohn David Luschnat seit 1908 in Berlin, wo er zeitweise Fabrikarbeiter war und bald erste Gedichte veröffentlichte. Seine Lyrik ("Kristall der Ewigkeit", 1926; "Die Sonette der Ewigkeit", 1927) spiegelt seine Beschäftigung mit der orientalischen Philosophie wider. Luschnat engagierte sich in der Zeit der Weimarer Republik im Schutzverband Deutscher Schriftsteller und war seit 1931 Schriftführer von dessen oppositioneller Fraktion. 1933 emigrierte er über Amsterdam nach Paris. Nach der Internierung 1940 lebte er illegal in Südfrankreich. Luschnat arbeitete nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg kurzzeitig für die französische Militärregierung in Baden-Baden und kehrte dann nach Frankreich zurück. - Mit Adreßstempel.
