The entitled book Disease Management in Freshwater Pisciculture spread over 28 chapters covers the complete picture on fish and prawn disease scenario in the country with particular reference to the latest developments made in the aquatic animal health management sector. The detail etiology clinical signs prophylaxis and treatment of diseases have been discussed in a simplified manner for easy understanding of researchers teachers trainers and students in the field. From the Preface Induced breeding and polyculture of carps are well known technologies being extensively adopted on a large scale in almost all parts of the country. The thrust in aquaculture has led to more demand for quality stocking material. Ever increasing demand of quality seed cannot be met by collection of seed from natural resources i.e. rivers canals etc. Many aquaculturists and agencies those were earlier dependant on natural fish seed collection have switched over to artificial fish seed production in recent years. Since the establishment of Pond Culture Division of Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute at Cuttack in 1949 and presently the Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture Bhubaneswar it has made epoch making contributions to R and D in aquaculture in the country.
