Cloth a little rubbed at spine tips and edges worn. First blank inscribed with notes on "specially interesting local items" to verso and second blank inscribed "Local Railways: A List of Books Relating to Railways including many of the North-Country Guides, Handbooks, Plans &c, &c compiled by Stanley J G Cotterrell formerly resident at Summerville, Rothbury". Stamp dated July 93 to original wraps, which have minor loss to edge; marginal crosses in text. A good copy. Scarce bibliographical reference work listing early railway related material in detail, arranged chronologically by publication date within themed chapters covering lines, locomotion and reference books. Each publication is reviewed by the informed author in his own inimitable fashion, he has obviously handled and read the majority of the 416 publications listed.

Published in Birmingham in 1899, this is a lovely small format hardback book of the Stream Locomotives of the London and North Western Railway, featuring nice thick bevelled edged boards, floral endpapers, gilt page edges, 130 pages, well illustrated with photographs, the book was originally issued in eight six penny parts, hear all bound together, with the original front covers bound in at the back, the book measures 5.75 inches by 5.5 inches approx., Some darkening and marking to the white cloth boards, mild edge rubbing wear, internally contents generally nice and clean.

Zustand: Good. 130pp gilt edged, illustrated throughout in black and white with a colour frontis plate depicting the Greater Britain as she appeared during Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee, 1897. Originally issued in parts, the covers of which are bound in at the back. Covers lightly soiled, spine ends rubbed, and frontis plate a little creased. A scarce item, albeit we have two copies.
