Cet article novateur occupe les pages 1225-1228 ; il est illustré de figur…es dans le texte numérotées de 1 à 19 (certaines étant constituées de petites illustrations, soit 43 illustrations au total). Gerard Guiot (1912-1998), chef du service de neurochirurgie de l'Hôpital Foch de Suresnes, et son équipe rapportent ici leur invention révolutionnaire. Ils exposent le matériel et la méthode utilisée, puis les résultats obtenus. Cet endoscope à visée neurochirurgicale utilisait une source de lumière placée à l'extérieur et un "guide de lumière". Les auteurs montrent que "ce perfectionnement technique appliqué aux explorations endo-craniennes ouvre un champ nouveau à ce mode d'examen dont l'intérêt est manifeste pour le diagnostic et pour l'enseignement." Cet appareil "peut être appliqué à l'exploration non seulement des cavités ventriculaires, mais également de diverses cavités organiques ou pathologiques intra-craniennes ainsi qu'à la loge hypophysaire abordée par voie nasale. L'intensité de l'illumination atteint plusieurs centaines de fois celle des anciens modèles. Elle permet l'exploration directe et la prise de documents photocinématographiques de qualité. Par ailleurs, les perfectionnements mécaniques de l'appareillage permettent une action thérapeutique efficace et variée." Gerard Guiot devint un pionnier de la neurochirurgie endoscopique.
