Hardcover. Zustand: Good. Hardcover. Brown leather spine and corners. Marbled paper over boards, and marbled endpapers. Some dryness to the leather and slightly weakened and cracked leather at the hinges. Pages toned from age. Binding good and tight. Title page dated 1910. Text in French. 98 pages. Inscribed on the first blank page, 'a mon sympathetique ami, Robert C. Richardson. Geo M. Russell. Fort Myer, Virginia.' Robert Richardson was commander of the US Army, Pacific during WWII, also the Military Governor of Hawaii. He was a veteran of the war in the Philippines as well as WWI. In addition, he was a serious scholar, with a vast library of books in English, French and German. This copy was a gift to Richardson by George Moor Russell, who was, among other things, an instructor at the USMA at West Point. I have several books from Gen. Richardson's collection - please inquire. Please email with questions or to request photos. If you see a photo beside this listing, please be aware that it's an ABE Stock Photo (whatever that is) and not a photo of this book.
