With an introduction providing a historical overview intended only to outline the historical background of theater and ideas. This documentation of the history of the Palace Theaters at Drottningholm and Gripsholm is beautifully illustrated with b/w phototypes of theaters and scenes from plays throughout. Profusely illustrated with phototypes in color, tipped in, and large b/w reproductions of theater interior and stage designs, including numerous architectural plans and drawings, printed directly to pages. Printed at Söners Book Printing House, Malmö. The paper was made especially for this book at Finpappersbruken. Photographs mostly by C. G. Rosenberg. Survey drawings were made available to the Swedish Architectural Heritage Society. The artistic decoration by Akke Kumlien. The illustrations rendered in photolithography by A.-B. Novella followed by two short stories, the majority of the text devoted to the first story, authored by the Englishman Charles G. Rosenberg, who had accompanied the Swedish opera singer Jenny Lind, and written a memoir of their travels during her tour through the United States on the invitation of P.T. Barnum, in 1850. Han utbildade sig till fotograf i New York efter skoltiden och inledde sitt långa samarbete med STF 1922. Vid sidan om STF:s uppdrag arbetade Rosenberg också som arkitekturfotograf: arkitekter som Carl Bergsten, Ragnar Östberg, Cyrillus Johansson, Lars Wahlman, Gunnar Asplund, Hakon Ahlberg och Paul Hedqvist valde främst Rosenberg för att dokumentera deras byggnader.
