Zustand: Sehr gut. Zustand: Sehr gut | Seiten: 274 | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | Life for Rhea Richards became one big whirlwind of uncertainty after becoming involved with Rico Robins. Rico, harbored a childhood crush for rhea that she was unaware of until one night when all the stars were aligned for the pair. When Rico finally made his move, both parties felt the impact instantly. The passion and chemistry between them was so strong, so magnetic, and so passionate the runner/chaser dynamic of the twin flame connection was activated immediately which had rhea running away from the connection at first. Finally, agreeing to see where the situation was headed, she took a chance on it. Unfortunately, as time progressed, she began to see a total and completely different side to Rico. Little did she know that the man she loved with all her heart had a very dark side that was hidden from the outside world and most people only saw the dynamic singer and entertainer that hid behind the mask he wore for the public. Soon, rhea's strong instincts and intuitive gifts forced her to investigate Rico's bizarre behavior. But what rhea learned and discovered ripped her heart from her chest and shattered it into a million pieces which had her wondering how could she have been so wrong about this man who had captured her heart and claimed she had indeed captured his? Rhea soon discovered a world full of drugs, street workers, orgies, witchcraft, covens thievery and serial cheating. These crimes reached beyond the small area of mahogony valley where she was born and raised, and whose population was still only 69,783. She soon learned that the old saying "what does not kill you, will only make you stronger." Was most definitely a true statement.

Scarce thus. In the 1990s, a loose-knit group of American artists and creators, many just out of their teens, began their careers influenced by the popular underground youth subcultures of the day, such as skateboarding, graffiti, street fashion, and independent music. Artists like Shepard Fairey, Mark Gonzales, Spike Jonze, Margaret Kilgallen, Mike Mills, Barry McGee, Phil Frost, Chris Johanson, Harmony Korine, and Ed Templeton began to create art that reflected the lifestyles they led. Many had no formal training and almost no conception of the inner workings of the art world. They learned their crafts through practice, trial and error, and good old-fashioned innovation. Not since the Beat Generation have we seen a group of creative individuals with such a unified aesthetic sense and varied cultural facets. The world of art has been greatly affected by their accomplishments as have the worlds of fashion, music, literature, film, and, ironically, athletics. Beautiful Losers is a retrospective celebration of this spirit, with hundreds of artworks by over two dozen artists, from precursors like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, and Larry Clark, to more recent adherents Ryan McGinniss, KAWS, and Geoff McFetridge. Work in all conceivable mediums is included, plus reproductions of reams of ephemera. The accompanying essays are contributed by half a dozen writers who have championed these beautiful losers from the start.
