In den WarenkorbFrom the Macqueen-Pope papers. See his entry in the Oxford DNB. 1p, 4to. In good condition, lightly aged and folded for postage. Addressed to 'My dear Popie' and signed 'Yours / Clarke' [sic]. In the previous year CR had published his autobiography 'With a Twinkle in my Eye', and he is now looking for an 'opinion' from MP that he can use for publicity purposes. 'I was so pleased with your letter that on reflection, I am writing to ask if you would be good enough to write me another with your opinion of my book.' He explains that he wouldn't have bothered MP had he not said that he enjoyed the book, 'and a line from you, he most famous of all biographers would be most valuable to me'. He doesn't want to come across as a 'bloody nuisance', but knows that his publishers 'would appreciate it'. He signs off, with reference to a notable theatre impressario: 'Yours, till Tom Arnold takes over Malaya'.
