Not in fact by Roper, and also formerly attributed to Swift. The Remarks on the Preliminary Articles are attributed to Arthur Maynwaring. Roper, 1665-1726, was a Tory journalist & publisher. He was deemed to have given offence by supporting the peace proposals to end the Spanish War of Succession.
