Vor allem diese Entdeckung hat die niederländischen Forscher Romme und Escher dazu gebracht, einen anderen Ansatz als den herkömmlich ps…ychiatrischen zu vertreten: Nicht das Stimmenhören an sich ist problematisch, sondern erst dann, wenn die Stimmen als beängstigend und tyrannisierend erlebt werden, ist Hilfe erforderlich. Das, was die Stimmen zu sagen haben, ist ernst zu nehmen, denn es liefert Aufschlüsse über ungelöste Lebensprobleme des Stimmenhörers und dies kann bei der Bewältigung der Probleme helfen. Außerdem sind Strategien des Umgangs mit den Stimmen zu entwickeln, sodass der Stimmenhörer sowohl die Stimmen wie auch sein Leben in den Griff bekommt. Die Autoren haben zu diesem Zweck ein Instrumentarium entwickelt, das in diesem Buch detailliert vorgestellt wird: Stimmeninterview, Bericht und Konstrukt sind methodische Hilfsmittel, um die Beziehung zwischen Stimmen und individueller Lebensgeschichte zu analysieren und der Bedeutung der Stimmen auf die Spur zu kommen. Ausführlich werden therapeutische Interventionen vorgestellt, die Hörern zu einem selbstbewussteren Umgang mit den Stimmen verhelfen sollen. Ein Überblick über alternative Erklärungs- und Therapieansätze, auf die Stimmenhörer häufig zurückgreifen, z.B. Mystik oder Reinkarnation sowie über Formen der Selbsthilfe, runden das Buch ab. Denn auch hier gilt: Stimmenhörer sind mit ihren eigenen Lösungsansätzen und Ressourcen ernst zu nehmen und darin zu unterstützen. Autor: Marius Romme war Professor für Soziale Psychiatrie an der Universität Maastricht, Niederlande. Er gilt als Gründer der internationalen Stimmenhörerbewegung.
