Writing as Governor of New York, Rockefeller writes to thank Maryland Governor Spiro Agnew for his support, "Maryland went out of its way to give me a warm reception on Friday. Without your cooperation, I know it wouldn't have happened that way." Signed "Nelson". Stamped "Received Jul 16 1968 Executive Dept." on the verso. Agnew has penned "Art" at the bottom of the letter which he forwarded to his Chief of Staff Art Sohmer. Folded for mailing with a minor paper clip stain at the top. Fine. Not only did both Nelson A. Rockfeller and Spiro Agnew serve as governors but they each also served as Vice President of the United States. Nelson Aldrich Rockefeller [1908-1979] was an American business man, philanthropist, public servant and politician. He was also a noted art collector, as well as administrator of the Rockefeller Center. He served as Governor of New York State from 1959-1973 and then as Vice President of the United States under Gerald Ford [1974-1977].…
