The complete two volumes of this influential two-volume study on English folklore, 'The Traditions of Lancashire'. Both are illustrated, with the original unclipped dustwrapper. Being the first and second series and held in the original unclipped dustwrappers. The first volume of this work was a huge success with the British upper classes and was reprinted within a year. This lead to the second series being published in 1831. With a preface memorial of the author. Bookseller's label to the front pastedowns, B H Blackwell Ltd. With illustrations by George Pickering and engraved by Edward Finden. To volume I there is a frontispiece and eleven plates, to volume II there is a frontispiece and ten plates. In full cloth bindings and held in the original unclipped dustwrappers. Externally, generally smart. Very light bumping to the head and tail of spines. Dustwrappers are chipped to the head and tail, with further chips to the extremities. Wraps are lightly age toned with scattered spots and handling marks. Tape repair to the verso of front wrap to volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with occasional spots. Very Good Indeed. book.

In den WarenkorbZustand: Gut. Kino --- Optisches Spielzeug um 1921: Ombro Cinema, mechanisches Schattentheater, Charlie Chaplin und George Roby, guter Zustand Sehr schönes Exemplar des "Ombro-Cinéma. Illusion du Movement", ein mechanisches Schattentheater (optisches Spiel), das 1921 eine Goldmedaille des Concourd Lépine erhalten hat. Die schöne chromolithographisches Deckelillustration zeigt ein Standbild eines Films, umrahmt von Charlie Chaplin und George Roby. Der Spielkasten / Schaukasten besteht aus einer Papier-Schattenbildrolle, auf zwei Spulen aufgewickelt, die sich hinter einer im Holzrahmen montierten Folio mit Straßenszene (Zaun) mittels einer funktionierenden Spieluhr bewegen lässt. So entsteht wie beim Schattentheater die Illusion, die Figuren würde ihre Füße voreinandersetzen und sich die imaginäre Straße entlangbewegen. Zu sehen ist u.a. eine Hundejagd. Auf der Innenseite des Deckels montierte Spielbeschreibung. Paris, Saussine um 1921 Schaukasten im Format 30 x 43 x 6 cm (Fenster 20 x 26 cm). Breite der Papierrolle 14 cm. Der Kasten im Format 33 x 45,5 x 7 cm. --- Zustand: Etwas berieben; Einriss im Deckel alt repariert, ansonsten guter Zustand. Guter Zustand.
