First of all I must tell that I am a new rider, with just two years of riding experience including one year of compulsory training/riding. So what ever I write below is from this perspective. This is a great book for somebody who wants to improve his/her riding in every aspect and become a better rider, both for fun and safety. The text is plain and easily understandable even from people who English are not their mother language. The structure is clear, with basic and advanced riding techniques and examples, mainly for the road user but with tips for the track as well. This is not a story book. It is like a riding manual. You can even read its section separately (but it is much easier if you first read it once from start to end). You read it, you practise, you revise, you read again. It is a lot of knowledge packed there and somebody needs to read it again and again in order to 'unlock' all of it. Overall one of the best book I have read regarding riding properly a motorcycle The book is very well written and explain the various phases of riding with a lot of details and real life examples. The fact that motorbike has changed since the time the book was written does not change the basic of riding the bike properly and safely. I loved the book and find it extremely useful in my day to day riding in the city and on my riding days in the countryside. I read this book shortly after reading the police rider training. It is the perfect next step. It takes many of the points in the police rider training and advances on them. It also has a detailed track racing section. For a start it is a very easy read with large print and inspiring photographs. The book is as much about riding fast as riding safely and is brim full of brilliant training suggestions and riding methods. It is so full of information that I am reading it again a few pages at a time and practicing the contents on each next ride. A key discipline is his 100 points traction theory, which becomes the basis for many actions like trail braking,leaning and steering, raising skills to a very high level. You will end up a much safer rider after reading this book, where ever you choose to ride, track or public roads. If you put the lessons into practice, I am sure you will be faster, smoother and better rider. Hope this review helps you, and that you enjoy the book as much as I did. Verständlich von Profis geschrieben, immer mit dem Bezug zu wahren Begebenheiten. Den einen oder anderen Tip kann man sich sicherlich holen um seine Rundenzeiten zu verbessern. Andere Tips bestätigen vielleicht auch nur, was man sich eh schon immer dachte. Alles in allem ein gutes Buch, wenn man dem Rennsport verfallen ist. Vieles das im "Obere Hälfte des." von Berndt Spiegel ( absolutes Pflichtbuch für Motorradfahrer und noch mehr Motorrad-Fahrschulen !) zugegebenermaßen konzentriertes Lesen erfordert, wird hier auf eine leichtere und praxisorientierte Art ( Übungen ) vermittelt. Viele Biker haben den B.Spiegel, nur die wenigsten schaffen es leider ihn ganz durchzulesen und zu verinnerlichen. Das wird bei diesem Buch nicht der Fall sein und läßt dennoch keine Lücken offen. Zum Buch selbst: es werden Erfahrungen aus dem Rennsport in den Alltag bzw. Strassenverkehr übertragen aus fahrsicherheitstechnischer Hinsicht mit den entsprechenden Übungen; und veranschaulicht dabei mit viel gutem Bildmaterial. Ich bin froh, das sehr gute Buch hier durch das Amazon-Rezensionsystem entdeckt zu haben (leider nur noch direkt vom Verlag zu beziehen ). Also, nicht lange.…

Unbound. Zustand: Near Fine. A collection of 81 loose photographs, letters,negatives, and other ephemera pertaining to Country-Western star Kenny Roberts between 1950 and 1978. All items about near fine with some edgewear. An archive of photographs, tour books, business cards, and other ephemera following the 40 year career of Country and Western star, Kenny Roberts, born George S. Kingsbury Jr. in Tennessee in 1926. Roberts was a yodeling champion and guitar player who was influenced by the cowboy singer style. At 15 he made his radio debut and by 17 he was the national yodeling champion. One of his earliest bands, The Down Homers, featured Bill Haley on guitar. After signing a record contract with Coral Records in the late 1940s he had a string of novelty hits including "I Never See Maggie Alone" and "Choc'late Ice Cream Cone." A promotional postcard from Coral Record in 1951 reads, "Listen to Kenny Roberts sing "Mickey the Chicky" on the Grand Ole Opray." Roberts act featured his yodeling abilities as well as jumping around while playing his guitar earning him the nickname of "Jumpin' Kenny Roberts." Many of the photographs included here show Roberts at the height of his career in the 50s and 60s on the Country-Western music circuit playing television programs and state fairs. One of these shows a line of fans waiting outside a record shop to meet Roberts. He is usually seen in full "cowboy" attire with fringe and Stetson holding a guitar or posing with fans. One photo shows him during a rehearsal for a television show, another shows him back stage with his two young sons all dressed as cowboys. Other performers are included within the photographs such as Patsy Montana, Montana Slim, and Ernest Tubb on the night Roberts' star was included in the Country Walk of Fame. An unnamed woman posed with her guitar in a "cowgirl" outfit is pictured here as well. There are a few pieces of ephemera included here such as a pocket calendar for 1968 embossed with Roberts and his labelmate, Kathy Dee's name from their record company. This calendar was used by the couple and has tour dates and appearances written throughout it. Dee would die at the end of 1968 after battling an illness. Also featured here are drafts of a letter from the 1970s Robert's was writing to his ex-wife's lawyer. By this point Roberts was making considerably less money and the letter, first hastily written on motel stationary and eventually typed, disputes the alimony payments he owed his ex. "I feel support to my children is only right and proper, but to continue to have to pay alimony to a woman that is doing as good or better than I am is discriminating against a man who is trying to pull himself up in a new life so I can earn more money not less." Roberts spent the remaining decades in pseudo retirement before passing away in 2012 at the age of 85. An interesting collection documenting the career of the "Yodeling Cowboy," Kenny Roberts.…
