Mensile di arte figurativa e letteratura edito inizialmente da Sansoni, dal 2016 da Mandragora, esce a fascicoli alterni: Arte i numeri dispari e Letteratur…a i numeri pari. Alla scomparsa di Longhi (1970) 'Paragone' passa ad Anna Banti, che poi lascia nel 1985 la direzione del fascicolo di Letteratura a Cesare Garboli e di quello di Arte a Mina Gregori. Quest'ultima, dal 2004, è unica Direttrice e Direttrice Responsabile. Dalla metà del 1995, con la Terza serie della rivista, la numerazione di Arte e Letteratura riparte da 1 eliminando l'alternanza pari-dispari, che viene comunque mantenuta nel numero progressivo tra parentesi indicato in ogni fascicolo. Dal 1999 i fascicoli di Letteratura escono tripli con cadenza semestrale, mentre quelli di Arte hanno mantenuto la cadenza bimestrale. Periodico mensile di Arte figurativa e Letteratura fondato e diretto da Roberto Longhi.

Sin embargo, casi noventa años después de la muerte del pintor, Michel de Montaigne pasaría por el lugar donde nació y murió, Borgo del Santo Sepolcro, sin hacer mención alguna en su diario ni de él ni de ninguna de sus obras: ni una sombra, ni un recuerdo, la memoria del artista no había llegado al siglo. Su redescubrimiento se lo debemos en buena media a Roberto Longhi, que no sólo lo reubica en el mapa del arte italiano, sino que extiende su influencia de Venecia a Sicilia, de Bellini a Antonello, haciendo pivotar todo el primer Renacimiento en torno a él. Desde la edición original del Piero della Francesca en 1927, se han publicado centenares de ensayos y monografías sobre el artista, algunos de los cuales han complementado el estudio del maestro, pero el de Longhi sigue siendo la pieza fundamental de todo estudio sobre el pintor. El retraso de casi un siglo respecto a su publicación en Italia se explica por la dificultad de verter el texto a nuestra lengua, reto brillantemente superado en la traducción que se ofrece por primera vez al lector español de una obra hasta ahora reputada como intraducible.
