Never before has a Prime Minister written his political memoirs while still in office - and after only two years in office at that. Most people would agree that it is typical of the vigour and franknesss of Robert David Muldoon, the man who pulls no punches. His first term in office as Prime Minister has established him as probably the most remarkable, controversial and outspoken leader New Zealand has ever had. Rob Muldoon describes this book as "the personal memoirs of a New Zealander.who loves his country and believes that its intimate political history should be recorded." Illustrated. 224 pp. Slight wear to corners and small tear to D/J.

Revue trimestrielle. (Jean-Yves Lacroix, Catalogue Revues, janvier 2019, p.4). Livres.

Cloth. Zustand: Very good. Inscribed copy of Mission to Earth: Landsat Views the World from President Jimmy Carter to the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Robert Muldoon. (illustrator). First Edition. Folio, 459pp. Grey illustrated cloth, title printed on spine and front cover. Illustrated endpapers. No additional printings mentioned on copyright page. Complete with 400 color plates, depicting images of the Earth as taken from the Landsat satellites. This copy is inscribed on the front free endpaper: "Best wishes to Prime Minister Robert Muldoon. Jimmy Carter. November 1977." This book was a gift to New Zealand Prime Minister Robert Muldoon upon his state visit to the White House November 8-11, 1977. The visit by Muldoon was part of a 3-week tour of the United States aimed at boosting agricultural trade with the United States. The trip was almost canceled due to comments from Muldoon earlier in the year, when he noted that "anybody can become President of the United States, even somebody who has a brother who pumps gasoline," referring to Billy Carter, the brother of President Carter. It took an intervention by Secretary of State Cyrus Vance and a threat to "snub Muldoon" to ease the uproar. Muldoon served as Prime Minister until 1984. Signed.
