Hardcover. Zustand: Good. This book has been restored with a new cover. The new black boards are clean and in good condition, with bright lettering to the spine. Tanning and marks to page edges, has been restored well with mild foxing to a couple of pages. Otherwise the binding is firm and the pages appear clean with tanning. This book has 155 pages. All in all a nice example of this book.

Boards have rubbed edges and a few marks. Patterned eps browned. Contents clean but a bit loose, hinges getting weak. Catalogue at end for Oct 1898.

No other inscriptions. Eps a little fragile at hinges. Boards faded and lightly bumped with some tiny nicks at spine extremities. Textblock clean and bright. A pleasing copy.

Pages with some foxing and tanning, particularly to endpapers and textblock edges. Some cracking to gutters with exposed netting. Binding loose. Dedication to front, dated 1904. Boards have moderate shelf wear with some rubbing, fraying and corner bumping. Some moderate sunning and tanning, particularly to spine. Gilt lettering remains bright and clear.

The book has tanned with age and there is some rust where staples are, although all pages remain present and not loose. Corners slightly dog-eared and few specs of dirt on covers, but overall in good to fair condition.

Cloth. Zustand: Good. None (illustrator). A scarce copy of Ganthony's guide for the amateur to amuse his friends. With a portrait Frontispiece, and a number of vignette illustrations throughout. Includes chapters on Bunkums; Travesties and Oddities; and Drawing-Room Comediettas. In a green cloth binding with gilt title detailing to the front board and spine. Externally, generally smart with some shelfwear; with bumping to the extremities, and some marks to boards. The front hinge is tender, rear hinge is strained. Internally, the binding is slightly strained, and tender in places; the pages are generally bright and clean with only scattered spotting, and some handling marks to the endpapers. There is a small paper label of Foyles, Charing Cross Rd, adhered to the front pastedown. Good. book.

Written by Robert Ganthony, a British writer and magician. Published by Will Goldston, an English stage magician involved in the merchandising of "magic tricks." He was a lifelong friend of Harry Houdini and the founder and president of the London-based Magicians' Club from 1911. In the original pictorial paper covered boards. Externally, smart with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. The odd mark to the boards. Joints starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd handling mark and age toning. Good. book.
