The book is amply illustrated with 325 illustrations, mostly vintage b&w photos but including some color too and a series of related maps. Condition: This book is in near fine condition. The dust jacket is still bright, glossy with just the slightest sign of edge wear and a bit of scuffing to the finish (barely perceptible). The hard covers are pristine, unbumped and bright including the gilt titles. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages and plates are bright and clean throughout. The book is flat signed by the Author on the title page just under his printed name. The book is bound in black cloth with gilt titles on the spine and protected by a high gloss, pictorial dust jacket, itself encased in a mylar sheath. The book includes 191 illustrations, although I should point out that this is more than a picture book as there is an extensive story about the Life-Saving Service and their work. Condition: This book is near fine condition. The dust jacket appears pristine, no doubt because someone applied the mylar sheath early on. The hard covers too, difficult to fully sea because the mylar sheath is taped in place (and I chose not to remove it) appears without any visible blemishes. The only mark I found in the book is the Author s signature on the title page. The interior pages and plates are bright and clean throughout. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight, sound and square. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
