Reliure d'époque en plein veau brun raciné, dos à cinq nerfs à caissons dorés ornés de fleurons sous forme de grenades, pièce de titre en maroquin rouge, triple filet estampé à froid en encadrement des plats, double filet doré aux coupes, tranches mouchetées bleues, contreplats et gardes marbrés au motif coquille. Superbe atlas historique de la France, finement rehaussé en couleurs à la main à l'époque, bien complet de sa monumentale carte dépliante en parfait état. Coiffes, coupes et mors restaurés, légères griffures et épidermures sur les plats. Bel état intérieur. Une version pré-originale de cet Atlas fut publiée en 1764, avec un frontispice et 58 cartes, un an avant notre édition. La nôtre, reconnue comme étant l'originale, fut enrichie d'une carte supplémentaire et d'un discours préliminaire. Elle annonce également par erreur 60 cartes alors qu'elle en comprend en réalité 59.
