Hardcover. Zustand: New. Contents: Foreword. I. Introduction. II. Gymnosperms of Nepal. 1. Cupressaceae. 2. Cycadaceae. 3. Ephedraceae. 4. Gnetaceae. 5. Pinaceae. 6. Podocarpaceae. 7. Taxaceae. III. Wood Anatomy of the Gymnosperms of Nepal. References. Index. From the foreword: The present book 'A Handbook of the Gymnosperms of…Nepal' includes descriptions and keys of the native gymnosperms of Nepal. Gymnosperms are seed plants with an ovule that is not enclosed in a carpel, as is the case in angiosperms. Gymnosperms are important plants in the flora and vegetation of Nepal. Gymnosperms, especially conifers, play an important role in the forests of Nepal. Almost all the species of conifers of Nepal form forests from the subtropical to the subalpine regions. They are very useful from economic point of view. They provide timber, resin, medicinal plants and dyes. The present book is based on the herbarium specimens, digitized images and field surveys. The taxonomy of the gymnosperms of Nepal with keys and descriptions for their identification is presented in this book. The representative herbarium specimens (one from each district) are given in each taxon. Anatomical descriptions of the gymnosperms of Nepal are provided for each species.

Hardcover. Zustand: New. 1st Edition. Contents: Foreword. Summary in Nepali. List of photos. 1. Introduction. 2. Studies on the Flowering Plants of Nepal. 3. Flowering plant diversity of Nepal. 4. Recent activities (1993-2017) on the publication of Flora of Nepal. References. Appendices. From the foreword: The history of taxonom…ical studies on flora of Nepal dated back to more than 200 years. The early taxonomical studies of Nepalese plants were carried out by the Europeans mainly by the British botanists. As a result of which the first book on flora of Nepal 'Prodromus Florae Nepalensis' was prepared in 1852 by David Don. Although a few but notably important due to pioneer work of its kind on Nepalese flowering plants, taxonomical works on Nepalese plants were published from 1802 to 1947. Since 1949 many British, Japanese and Indian expeditions carried out plant explorations in Nepal and published many important findings. Many important works on Nepalese flowering plants were published between 1949 and 1982, especially three volumes of 'An Enumeration of flowering plants of Nepal' in 1978-1982 by Hara et al. Even after this publication many plant collecting expeditions in Nepal were carried out especially by the Japanese botanists. Researches carried out in the Central Department of Botany (Tribhuvan University, Nepal), University of Tokyo (Japan) and University of Edinburgh (U.K.) for M. Sc and Ph. D degrees are noteworthy. Studies on the flowering plants are still continuing and newly discovered species and new records for flora of Nepal are being added.

Hardcover. Zustand: New. From the Foreword: I am pleased to know that the department of plant resources is going to publish a book Flowering Plants Discovered from Nepal . Nepal is rich in its biological diversity including plant resources. Thousands of new plant species have been discovered from Nepal and still the collection a…nd studies on the flowering plants are going on. Nearly 217 years of explorations carried in the past have discovered many new flowering plants in Nepal. From mid-twentieth century onwards, several botanical expeditions were carried out in Nepal by Scientists and they collected specimens of plants from different parts of the country. With the establishment of National Herbarium in Nepal under the Department of Plant Resources in 1961, significant works on the collections and publications by Nepalese botanists have been carried out. More than 100 type specimens of newly discovered plants from Nepal have been preserved in the National Herbarium at Godawari, Lalitpur, Nepal.

Zustand: Sehr gut. Zustand: Sehr gut | Seiten: 514 | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | Automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems are finding increasing use in everyday life. Many of the commonplace environments where the systems are used are noisy, for example users calling up a voice search system from a busy cafeteria…or a street. This can result in degraded speech recordings and adversely affect the performance of speech recognition systems. As the use of ASR systems increases, knowledge of the state-of-the-art in techniques to deal with such problems becomes critical to system and application engineers and researchers who work with or on ASR technologies. This book presents a comprehensive survey of the state-of-the-art in techniques used to improve the robustness of speech recognition systems to these degrading external influences. Key features: Reviews all the main noise robust ASR approaches, including signal separation, voice activity detection, robust feature extraction, model compensation and adaptation, missing data techniques and recognition of reverberant speech. Acts as a timely exposition of the topic in light of more widespread use in the future of ASR technology in challenging environments. Addresses robustness issues and signal degradation which are both key requirements for practitioners of ASR. Includes contributions from top ASR researchers from leading research units in the field.

Its pristine habitats ranging from Kachankawal (60 m), the lowes…t level of Nepal to Mt. Everest (8848 m), the highest peak of the world covers almost all types of eco-regions and microclimates. Due to the variation in topography it harbors more than 60% of flowering plants found in Nepal. Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Choyu, Lotse, Jannu, Yalungkang, etc lie in this Province. This Province comprises 14 districts of eastern Nepal, namely Taplejung, Panchthar, Ilam, Jhapa, Sankhuwasabha, Terhathum, Bhojpur, Dhankuta, Sunsari, Morang, Solukhumbu, Khotang, Okhaldhunga and Udaypur (Fig. 1).
