16pp, 8vo. Saddle-stitched into (the original?) plain blue wraps. In fair condition, lightly aged and worn, with slight damage and damp staining to back wrap. A laudatory assessment of Richardson's life, attainments and achievements, concluding with the observation that 'no marble monument will be needed to tell the coming age, that he lived and died in the heart of this community. Confusing entries on OCLC WorldCat appear to list six copies, none in England. "William Merchant Richardson (January 4, 1774 March 15, 1838) was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Massachusetts and chief justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court.".

Disbound, some light foxing throughout, some marginal staining to pages 81-84 and some minor inner margin loss to the same pages. The text is not affected in any way. Offsetting from the first plate onto the final blank page but overall a good copy. Divided into three parts. Part 1 "Examination of Mr Desmarest's Memoir", Part 2 "Examination of the Facts and Opinions given by different advocates for the Volcanic Origin of Basalt who followed Mr Desmarest" , Part 3 "Arguments against the Volcanic Origin of Basalt derived from its arrangement in the County of Antrim". The stitching is holding but there is some loss to the paper on the spine. Extracted from Transactions of the Royal Irish Academy, Volume 10, 1806. The paper was read Dec 10th, 1804.
