Tibetan text with translation - more important are the more than 700 notes by Petech and Richardson, and the precious historical photos b…y Hugh Richardson of the described monasteries, many only published here. Even though many monasteries have been rebuilt in the past years, their actual appearance has often changed. Photos published here show i.a. buildings in Lhasa, but also by Westerns before the 1990ies rarely visited sites like Drikung Thil, Tsal Gungthang, Keru, Khra brug and Tsurpu. This book never have been easy to find and has in the past years become quite rare. From the library of Moravian Missionary F. A. Peter with his small name stamp inside front cover and few pencilled annotations. Peter was one of the last Western missionaries in Ladakh, his father was the only Moravian bishop there.
