TITLE CONTINUED: Published by order of the most noble the Governor-General of India. By R. Baird Smith, 1856. Military style khaki coloured box with fold-over flap, text at the front followed by 4 pockets for the 21 folding plans, 3 still have the silk pull-outs, gilt lettered leather title label to spine. Thick 8vo, approximately 230 x 145 mm, 9 x 5¾ inches, 21 folding plans of varying sizes laid on linen, as required by plate list, pages: xii, 1-148. Brown stain to top margins of all text, the first few pages are the worst, diminishing gradually (see attached image). Box stained and worn, leather title a little chipped (see images), pale browning to linen, small neat repairs to 4 plans, no loss to images, a few other small closed tears, no loss to images, most with a printed paper title pasted on to the linen, a few are missing, a few plans with pale age-browning. There are 4 extra related panorama plates not called for, all seem to be lacking a small section, they are loose as they do not fit in the pockets. A good copy only. See: H. K.
