Blank was with von Ribbentrop from 1935 to the fall of the Reich. She testified regarding her boss's 'admiration and veneration for Adolf Hitler' on Day 93 of the Nuremberg Trial. The recipient Louis B. Frewer, Superintendent of Rhodes House Library, Oxford, was a collector of autographs. 1p, long 8vo. On brittle and creased paper, with chipping and closed tears to edges, and traces of mount on reverse. The letter carries an embossed Nazi eagle at top left. Headed 'SEKRETARIAT.' and addressed to 'Louis B. Frewer, Esq. / "Tal-y-Fan" / Highfield Avenue / Oxford'. Reads: 'Dear Sir, / the German Ambassador, Herr v. Ribbentrop, has asked me to return to you the enclosed photograph which you sent him to have it autographed. Owing to much work I could not comply with your demand sooner. / Yours faithfully / M. Blank.'.

The 72 photographs featured in this book are from Heinrich Hoffmann, Hitler's personal photographer, and depict, among many other views, the Fuehrer being greeted by ethnic Germans in Prague; a meeting with Himmler, Heydrich and Wehrmacht Generals at Prague's Hradcany Castle; Hitler in conversation with Joachim von Ribbentrop (his Foreign minister who wrote the foreword of this book) and Czech President Dr. Emil Hacha; his review of Kriegsmarine ships in Memel, and his triumphant return to Berlin after his latest territorial conquests. The photographs are reproduced in stunning photogravure. Minor and sporadic rubbing along edges of wrappers. Text in German. Wrappers in good+ to very good, interior in very good condition.

Beneath the heading is an eight-line quotation from Low's 'Years of Wrath', followed by: 'The document herewith, issued by the German Foreign Office, is the Italian ambassador's copy of a number issued to those present on the occasion of Ribbentrop's speech to the Heads of Foreign Missions and members of the German and foreign press in Berlin in 1940. | This is the full text of his speech, in which he announced the evidence mentioned above of Britain's intention to invade Norway. In this Ribbentrop states that the Reich government can prove that Britain and France had long planned the occupation of Norway and that it was only by the last-minute intervention of Germany that the plan failed. He refers to the British attack on the ALTMARK in January 1940 and to British units engaged in the other operations, notably the Sherwood Foresters. The document appears to have been put together in a hurry. It has been annotated here and there and underlined in places by the Italian ambassador, in whose room at the Italian Embassy in Berlin it was found by W/Cdr S. John Peskett OBE in 1945. Rückseitig befindet sich die Signatur der US-Schauspielerin GENEVIEVE TOBIN (1899-1995). - Am 20. September 1938 heiratete Tobin den Regisseur William Keighley . Mit Beginn der Ehe endete auch weitgehend ihre Schauspielkarriere. Sie reiste fortan mit ihm weltweit zu seinen Drehorten und lebte mit ihm hauptsächlich in London und Paris . Während dieser Zeit begann sie Malerei zu studieren und wurde eine ernsthafte Künstlerin. Ihr Stern am Hollywood Walk of Fame liegt an der Adresse 6119 Hollywood Blvd.) ).
