Professionally recased with a new calf backstrip and free endpapers, three plates have foxing, lacks the silhouette frontispiece, the added map entitled 'A Map of the County of Antrim' is by Curry, Dublin, blind private stamp to the foot of the title, small oval stamp of Magalester College Library to the foot of the title otherwise a VG- tight and clean copy. "This edition is enriched by a memoir of the Author, and an Itinerary and Guide to the Giant's Causeway". The Itinerary which runs from page 221 to page 265 has a separate title page also dated 1822. Scarce in the original boards.

Splendidly illustrated throughout with numerous full-page and in-text wood-engravings, this 2-volume set contains a selection of old and new British ballads illustrated by some of the best illustrators of the their times. Moderate rubbing along joints. Covers slightly darkened / soiled. Some foxing to very first pages of both volumes. Bindings in overall good, interior in good+ to very good condition.

With orange floral endpapers and pastedowns. Illustrated with a frontispiece and five black and white plates by W.L. Sheppard. A Reverend's recollection of his travels and missionary work across North America. Pierson was interested in observing the culture of different regions in the United States. Reverend Pierson primarily describes the southwest here, but also discusses Georgia before the Civil War, including a description of nineteenth-century Black-American funeral customs (one of the plates depcits a Black-American funeral), and a description of Haiti. A Very Good or better book with minor rubbing to the front board and a contemporary name on the first blank leaf.

First edition. 8vo. 33 pp. An appendix, on pages [23]-33, includes two obituaries and five memorial resolutions from Mobile organizations to which Hitchcock belonged. Hitchcock (1792-1839) served as first Secretary of the Alabama Territory, first attorney general of the state, and Chief justice of the state's Supreme Court, 1836-1837. American Imprints 56134.
