English divine, author and social reformer (1806-82). Two pages, 16mo. Good, though lightly foxed, and with second leaf of bifoliate carrying traces of glue from previous mounting. Black-bordered, and bearing Paget's remarkably modernistic letterhead, made up of a pattern of his initials. 'Dear Sir | I do not know whether our doings here at our Village Festival are of a kind to interest you, but I take the liberty of assuring you that we shd. be very happy to see you, & any friends you might like to bring over.' Signed 'F. E. Paget'.

1p., 12mo. Good, on lightly-aged paper. He thanks him for his letter, stating that it will be 'a great pleasure to look forward to staying at the Abbey House', and hopes that, 'in spite of the malignant perversity of trains', he will 'get to Tewkesbury at 4.16'.

Both items good, on lightly-aged mourning paper; the second with a small light spot in one margin. Letter One: 1p., 12mo. He acknowledges Russell's letter of that morning, and informs him that he has 'taken steps to bring your wish before the Governing Body of Christ Church at this next meeting, which will be on November 14th'. Letter Two: 2pp., 12mo. He has 'communicated to the Chaplin [Russell's] wish: - there will be no difficulty at all in making arrangements for all your party to attend the Evening Service at five on St. Peter's Day', and he will on the followind day 'tell the Organist, Dr. Harwood' of their coming'.

Splendidly illustrated throughout with numerous full-page and in-text wood-engravings, this 2-volume set contains a selection of old and new British ballads illustrated by some of the best illustrators of the their times. Moderate rubbing along joints. Covers slightly darkened / soiled. Some foxing to very first pages of both volumes. Bindings in overall good, interior in good+ to very good condition.
