Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. CONNECTION OF BATH WITH THE LITERATURE & SCIENCE OF ENGLAND J. HUNTER 1853. I am pleased to be able to offer for your consideration a small and now quite rare, vintage book about the development of literature and science in the United Kingdom. The book is titled: The Connection of Bath with the Literature and Science of England, by the Rev. Joseph Hunter. This small hard cover book (4 ½ x 6 ¾ inches, 94 pages) was published by R.E. Peach (Pocock s Library) of Bath, dated 1853. It is, according to the sub-title: A paper read before the literary and philosophical association of the Bath Institution, on November 6, 1826, and includes: An account of the Formation of the Institution and Notes on the Paper, Written in 1853, by the Author. The book is bound in dark brown paper-covered boards with embossed framing and gilt titles on the cover. Also included are photos of the List of Members of the Bath Literary Club, founded in 1852. The endpapers are marbled and there is a small bookseller s label on the front endpaper. Condition: This small hard cover book is in very good condition. There has been some wear to the boards, in particular at the top & bottom of the spine (please see the photos). The gilt titles, however, on the cover are still bright and attractive. There is an inked gift inscription on the first blank page and a small blot of soiling mid-point in the gutter of the page. Remarkably, and despite its age, the interior of the book does not show any real toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
