There is a thin crack in the gutter visible at the front endpapers or content page, but the front board and pages are secure. The blank page before the title page bears two or three gift inscriptions written neatly in ink. Corners are bumped and rounded. Pages are otherwise clean and unmarked. Overall, this is a fine leather binding and looks quite nice on a shelf.

First Edition. A nice copy in the original green cloth with gilt titles and decoration of this seminal work on the distribution of mushrooms and other fungi in Scotland. Ex Royal Society of edinburgh library with their stamps. Folding colour map to front. Some pages uncut. Signature to fep of the Scottish forester and gardener Jean Balfour in pencil. VG.
